Dominating the New York skyline with its slender silhouette, 432nds as a luxurious emblem in Manhattan's esteemed Billionaire's Row. Offering coveted vistas of Central Park and the surroundingcture is crafted Park Avenue sta city, this stru as a living gallery, featuring high ceilings, expansive open spaces, and stunningly framed views. While we have explored the interiors of the penthouse conceived by Kelly Behun, we now turn our attention to the striking contemporary design of a lavish apartment situated on the tower's 63rd floor, created by William McIntosh.
The main living area is elevated on a leather-upholstered platform, featuring an abstract bar. The bar, designed as a sculptural T-shaped console clad in brass, boasts a countertop made from internally illuminated onyx, adding dramatic flair for evening gatherings. Behind it, contemporary artwork in rich metallic shades is mounted on a motorized track, sliding to reveal a hidden bar cabinet embedded in the wall. Enhancing the impressive city views, full-width seating frames the windows in oak, offering cozy spots to relax, read, or enjoy the dynamic skyline and streets below.
Continuing the theme of socializing and entertainment, the dining area features two large brass-colored tables that comfortably accommodate 14 guests—ideal for family and friends’ gatherings. A blue velvet upholstered bench seating against the wall adds a vibrant touch, and the convex mirror framed in brass and wood reflects the beautiful scenery.
The kitchen cabinetry, made of light oak, mirrors the flooring underneath the dining area and the decorative wooden window frames. White lacquer and high-gloss stone finish complement the delicate light grains of the wood, creating a bright and airy space that showcases culinary creativity. A standout element is the 'floating' stone breakfast bar positioned by the window, perfect for enjoying leisurely mornings. With views overlooking Central Park, one can enjoy breakfast while watching the city come to life with the dawn.
Dressed in a gradient of soft greys accented with powder pink and violet hues, the primary bedroom features silk-covered walls, plush velvet drapes, and a custom-designed bed crafted by the studio. A large black-and-white artwork by Jean Dubuffet provides visual relief; its monochrome shapes and textures influence the surrounding textiles, from drapery to accent cushions. Subtle brass accents on the bedside lamps, curtain rails, and the chaise lounge legs add a touch of glamour and decorative detail, creating an elegant contrast that might evoke the city and its architecture outside.
The interiors, designed by William McIntosh, strike a lovely balance between luxury home decor and the stunning views. Although the expansive windows and cityscape serve as the primary feature of 432 Park Avenue, McIntosh crafts spaces with unique personality and charm that respect but do not depend on the city beyond the tower.
Spanning 4,500 square feet, this apartment features three bedrooms, four bathrooms, a library, and an open-concept main living area that encompasses a lounge, bar, dining room, and kitchen. The interiors, dressed in a soft color palette of grey, white, and tan, draw attention to the heart of each room, displaying furnishings and decor with unique, sculptural designs in rich colors and luxurious materials. This minimalist approach to interior design enhances the sophisticated separation between the interiors and the breathtaking, framed views seen through the expansive 10ft x 10ft windows, turning them into constantly evolving artworks.
The library serves as a serene retreat from the main living areas, offering a perfect spot to read, work, or simply relax. The room is adorned with a soothing color palette of browns, brass, and turquoise. Contemporary oak paneling decorates the walls, featuring cutouts that reveal and frame recessed shelves. A notable aspect of the library is its turquoise lacquered ceiling, which draws the eye downward, fostering an intimate atmosphere. A striking bronze pendant by Achile Salvagni serves as a focal point, highlighting flowing forms and curves that resonate with many furniture pieces throughout the apartment.
