Design Miami 2024

Liminal Cycles is being showcased at the Institute of Contemporary Art Miami during the city’s art week. This multisensory installation, developed with the research and design studio Crafting Plastics, draws inspiration from the Lexus LF-ZC (Lexus Future Zero Catalyst) battery electric vehicle concept. It embodies Lexus’s commitment to material innovation, responsive technology, and personalization.

As 2024 nears its end, another successful iteration of Design Miami comes to a close, marking its significant 20th edition. What began as a small gathering in 2005 during Art Basel Miami Beach has transformed into a prominent global fair, holding annual editions in Miami, Basel, Paris, and, this year, Los Angeles for the first time.

The Future Perfect’s Goldwyn House, situated at the foot of the Hollywood Hills, offers visitors a residential concept gallery. Originally built in 1916 by architect Arthur S. Heineman, it is best known for being home to the renowned film producer Samuel Goldwyn. This unique blend of a historical Hollywood residence and gallery allows for an immersive experience when viewing culturally significant works in an unconventional setting.

Una Casa Privada, meaning ‘A Private House,’ offers a unique design destination. Curated by Una Malan, this property showcases beloved and emerging designer collections in furnishings, lighting, art, and accessories. Located above Sunset Plaza and near the Design Quarter, it extends the Una Malan Los Angeles showroom. Surrounded by gardens and classic architecture, this villa inspires designers and clients in its intimate spaces.

Jaguar unveils a strikingly distinctive and unexpected representation of its brand as it continues to evolve. Type 00 (pronounced Type Zero Zero) exemplifies Jaguar’s artistic vision of Exuberant Modernism, following its new brand identity launch.

Una Malan stands out as a prominent figure in the design industry, known for her exquisite collection of world-class artisans. A visit to her Los Angeles showroom reveals a stunning array of bespoke furniture, lighting, textiles, and accessories, all designed or personally selected by Una, reflecting exceptional craftsmanship and design standards.

Introducing Alchemist, the latest lighting collection by Lee Broom. Alchemist delves into the ancient art of alchemy, transforming base metals into coveted objects while also reflecting its spiritual and mystical meanings. Inspired by the concepts presented in Paul Coelho's novel ‘The Alchemist,’ Broom envisioned a lighting collection that explores both the tangible aspects of alchemy and its metaphysical dimensions, incorporating themes from astrology, mythology, and folklore. Established in 2016 by Stefan Lawrence, who founded Twentieth, and co-curated by artist Daniele Albright, THE NEW is situated adjacent to Twentieth’s Los Angeles gallery, showcasing a variety of exhibitions each year. In 2019, during the Los Angeles Design Festival, THE NEW featured Henzel Studio Collaborations, showcasing a collection of limited edition artist rugs created by leading figures in contemporary art.
