Eric Cohler Model Residence, Zaha Hadid's 520 West 28th

Related Companies announces the unveiling of another model residence in Zaha Hadid's 520 West 28th, designed by interior designer Eric Cohler.

Related Companies has unveiled another model residence within the iconic 520 West 28th building designed by architect Zaha Hadid. Residence 25, covering nearly 3,000 sq. ft. and featuring three bedrooms, provides an updated glimpse into this quintessential 21st-century home in West Chelsea.

Interior designer Eric Cohler respects Hadid’s vision in this new residence while infusing his unique style through the use of color, art, textiles, and upscale furnishings. Each area of the living space possesses its own distinct character, achieved by combining various patterns, furniture styles, and color schemes while celebrating the building's fabric characterized by Hadid's distinctive structural curvature in the ceilings, windows, and walls.

The bedroom and bathrooms are designed to maximize natural light, featuring large floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the building’s exterior. Subtle blue tones are integrated into the bedroom’s interior through wall colors and select accessories like a striking rug, textiles, and glassware. Expansive white marble slabs enhance the walls and floors, contrasting with bold black fixtures that deepen the interior's aesthetic. An impressive freestanding bathtub captures attention while offering views of New York City and the surrounding area.

Eric Cohler's model residence at 520 West 28th transcends many other interior designs. Its eclectic style harmoniously complements Hadid's unmistakable building, defining and enriching the interior spaces without detracting from the building's architectural essence.

A key element of the interior is the high-gloss, curved floor-to-ceiling unit that separates the kitchen and breakfast bar from the main living and dining spaces. On one side, a stunning custom-made seating arrangement, upholstered in captivating white and blue fabric, follows the curvature of the unit. On the opposing side, integrated storage along with an oven and other kitchen appliances are conveniently located.

Highlighting clean lines and smooth surfaces, the kitchen surrounds a central breakfast bar and preparation island, shaped into a distinct angular form typical of Zaha Hadid’s designs. Glossy white surfaces contrast beautifully with matte finishes, creating a dynamic interplay of light that evolves throughout the day. Chrome fixtures and fittings reflect small bursts of color from the kitchen's decor, including artwork and upholstery fabrics.
